Dortmund born German painter Norbert Tadeusz is honored with a “Tadeusz Pavillon” in Museum Insel Hombroich (@inselhombroich) in Neuss, Germany. His connection to the region – and to this museum in particular – is evident. He taught at the Staatlichen Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf and was involved with the founding of Museum Insel Hombroich itself.
His style of painting is characterized by complex compositions and the use of vibrant colors. The complex composition in this work – created especially for this room in the museum – manifests itself primarily in the number of things that is going on. A descent from the cross, large paintings being moved, sailors in uniform in all kinds of poses and a horse and carriage. All of them not being depicted once, but twice, since the two canvasses – although very different in some respect – show roughly the same.
