The Cobra Museum (@cobramuseum) in Amstelveen is currently showing several top pieces from the world-renowned collection of surrealist artworks of Museum Boijmans van Beuningen (@boijmans). Museum Boijmans itself is closed for a multi-year renovation at the moment, but this unique collaboration allows the public to see some brilliant surrealist works by Salvador Dalí, René Magritte and Man Ray and even some associated artists (but not necessarily Surrealists) like Carel Willink and Paul Delvaux.
The lighting in the exhibition isn’t optimal, especially for a photographer. The skylights are closed to prevent daylight damaging the works (I guess) and there are quite hard LED-lights pointed at the works. But by no means let this prevent you from taking the opportunity to see these works on display. They are brilliant, and with the closure of Museum Boijmans lasting another 6 years, it might be a while before they are shown again.
