The Langen Foundation (@langenfoundation) in Neuss, Germany houses in a beautiful building by Japanese architect Tadao Ando. A completely self-taught architect, Ando is know to be the first and often copied architect to use bare (but neatly) cast concrete elements in his buildings and using them as an aesthetical element.
The foundation was founded by Marianne Langen to showcase her vast collection of Oriental and Modern Art. Having had several locations, the Langen Foundation found home in this gorgeous building in the vicinity of Museum Insel Hombroich and actually right next to Raketenstation Hombroich. Marianne Langen, who was personally very invested in monitoring the build, sadly past away before the building was finished.
The two main rooms displayed works of two separate artists: Park Seo Bo (@parkseobo) – father of the ‘Dansaekhwa’ (Korean Monochrome Painting) movement – and Minjung Kim (@minjung_kim_art) – conceptual and mixed-media artist who uses traditional Korean techniques and materials to create her work.
The museum is currently closed to build the new exhibition, which looks to be a stunner as well: Alicja Kwade (@alicjakwade), starting September 7!
